Sound Planning and Solid Ground

     So, we have officially entered the wacky weather season. It is Spring this week. It was definitely Winter last week, and I believe that we have had both in the same day several times over the past month. And as those two seasons ping-pong back and forth for control, Summer shows up and reminds us all that it is waiting to take over and greet us soon.

     Trying to predict and plan around the weather in Mobile, AL, is about as risky as having a pet rattlesnake (if you do have one of these, PLEASE do not ever bring it to church with you!). If you are looking for consistency and sure footing, then the weather around here is probably not your best choice. However, there is a choice that you and I can make that will provide solid footing and reliability every time: Intentional Bible Study!

     With all the crazy things happening in our world today, and with the breakneck pace at which they seem to be happening, it is good to have a strong, unshakable place to turn in order to stay centered and to stay steady. The Bible provides us with all the wisdom that we will ever need to live and to plan in this life. While there are some really funny redneck life hacks and life remedies, and while there are some neat insights and suggestions on TikTok, the Bible contains insights, truth, and life guidance from the One who created us! It gives perspective from the One who has seen us from above and has walked with us through all the temptations that we face here on earth. The Bible provides guidance from God’s throne to a stable, centered, God-honoring life. Unlike the wind and the weather, God never changes. Unlike TikTok, He doesn’t need a new way to do things. And, unlike rednecks, He does not need a country song or 4 Wheel drive to inspire Him. He is never shaken. He is never unprepared. He is constant. He is steadfast. He is our security.

     I don’t know all the things that you are tempted to trust for a steady and solid life. I do know that if it is anything other than Jesus, it will not last. Living without Jesus at the center is literally planning to fail. Let me encourage you to get involved with a Bible study class (either on Sunday morning or in any of our other offered options) and find that rock solid life that is ready for even worse craziness still to come. Let’s stay steady. Let’s stay centered with Jesus. He never fails and His forecast is always 100% accurate!  I’ll see you soon at GSBC.
