We are glad you’ve joined us to reflect on this message from Pastor Scotty as we are challenged to look beyond our natural impulses and embrace a life defined by the grace of God.

  • Choosing a Kingdom Perspective: When we are mistreated, we must remember that we operate within a spiritual framework of light and darkness. Our calling is to love God and hate sin, which requires us to hate the evil act itself without hating the person who committed it.
  • Guarding Our Speech: We are cautioned to never repay evil for evil, particularly through the words we speak. It is vital to guard our tongues and avoid speaking curses over others, recognizing the significant weight and reality of our speech.
  • The Futility of Revenge: While the urge to seek revenge is a common human reaction, it is a product of the flesh and cannot produce the godliness God desires. Responding to evil with more evil only perpetuates a cycle that produces even more evil.
  • Surrendering to God's Justice: Seeking our own revenge can inadvertently hinder the redemptive work God may be doing in the life of the person who wronged us. Instead of taking matters into our own hands, we should step aside and give room for the wrath of God, trusting His ultimate justice.
  • The Call to Bless: We are encouraged to ask God for the grace needed to extend genuine kindness toward those who have offended us. The ultimate goal is to reach a place of spiritual maturity where we can sincerely bless those who persecute us.
