Dr. Charles Brown, Senior Pastor

Dr. Charles Brown has served as pastor at Government Street for over thirty years. Under his leadership, the church has experienced growth over the years. He is committed to verse by verse teaching of God’s word each time we meet. Dr. Brown believes and teaches the importance of both mission ministries and home-front evangelism. He received his education at both William Carey University and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He has pastored churches both in Alabama and Mississippi. Dr. Brown and his wife, Melba Roper Brown, have three children.

 

Dino Danzey, Executive Pastor of Administration

Dino Danzey serves as Executive Pastor of Administration. He has been in the ministry since 1999. Bro. Dino has served on staff in churches in Mobile and Baldwin counties. He holds a Bachelors of Arts from the University of South Alabama and two Master’s degrees from Liberty University. Dino and his wife have been married since 2001. They have two children, Mackenzie and Braden. 
 

Bruce Earnest, Worship Pastor

Bruce Earnest received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Administration from Westfield State University, a Master of Music Degree in Opera from the University of Miami, and he is pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. He is the Associate Dean and Producer of the School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Mobile and Producing Artistic Director of the International Performing Arts Institute. He is married to Darla, and they have two children, Lukas and Rosalie; He is also an ordained Southern Baptist minister.
 

Brooks Alexander, Education Pastor

Brooks Alexander accepted Christ at age 10. He graduated from Mississippi College and the University of Mississippi Law School. After practicing law for 17 years, he was called into the ministry in 1993. He then attended and graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree.  He served for over 5 years as a church planter and multi-housing minister in St. Louis, Missouri, and he has served for over 14 years as a minister of education at Government Street Baptist Church.  His wife is named Cathy, and they have 2 adult children, Matthew and Walton.

 

Bevin Plash, Children's Minister

Bevin's heart for children and their parents joins with her creative ministry ideas to always lend a fresh perspective to life at G-Street. Bevin is a graduate of The University of South Alabama.
 

John Baker, Student Pastor

John Baker serves as Student Pastor at G-Street. He surrendered to God’s call to pastor on Father’s Day of 2013 and has served on church staffs in north Alabama and Mobile. John has served in childhood, youth, and collegiate ministries. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Theology from the University of Mobile and is currently seeking his Masters of Divinity in Evangelistic Church Growth from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. John and his fiancé, Ellisa, are happily engaged and to be wed June 24, 2017.

 

Debbie Riel, Camp Christian Director

Debbie Riel accepted Christ as a young teenager.  She was born in Jackson, Mississippi and moved to Mobile, Alabama as a baby and has never left. She has been in the secular business world most of her life. In 2010 Debbie served on our Camp Christian committee and God has been working in her life ever since. And in 2014 Debbie was lead to take the position as Director of Camp Christian.  Debbie is a widow and she has two children, Brittney and Jason. She also has two adorable grandchildren Emma and Owen.
 

Phi Vo, Pastor of New Life Baptist Church

Phi Thuong Vo was born in Vietnam and lived there until the age of twelve when he moved to a refugee camp in the Philippines. During his time in the camp he came to know Jesus Christ, and learned English through education classes and the Bible. When he moved to the states in 1990 he lived in Mobile, AL and attended the local public schools and was active in his churches meetings and activities. Upon completion of high school he continued his education and received a certificate in automotive services and worked as a master technician for Lexus of Mobile. While in the secular industry, he remained active in his church in various positions, which included becoming camp director for the yearly International Children’s Camp. In 2005 he received the pastoral call from God. Serving as associate pastor at the Vietnamese Baptist Mission, through Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church, until it grew into Vietnamese Obedience Baptist Church. He attended Tennessee Temple University and earned a degree in Pastoral Ministries and Biblical Studies. While still at Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church he was ordained by the church under the leadership of Dr. James Mercer. After continuing to serve at his church he felt the call to become a missionary in Southeast Asia through Crossing Cultures International. After working and serving there for a year he returned to Mobile, AL to plant a Vietnamese Church. Pastor Phi has been the pastor of New Life Baptist Church (Hội Thánh Báp Tít Đời Sống Mới) since its beginning on Thanksgiving weekend, 2010. Under his leadership, the church has grown through a variety of programs and Bible studies. He is married to Be Vo and has two children, Anhtai Phillip Vo and Linhan Jasmine Vo.
 

Michelle McCormick, School Principal

Mrs. Michelle McCormick has served over 25 years in teaching and directing. Though primarily focused on music, she has experience in many other aspects of the education department. Some of her administrative services includes AISA state chairperson, AVA District 7 chair, as well as serving in various church positions throughout the years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Mobile College (University of Mobile) and a Masters of Education from University of South Alabama, as well as a BA in Languages with a focus on French. She has taught courses ranging from Biblical Studies, five foreign languages, and a variety of music courses. She has also led many Assertive Discipline in-services for teachers in the state of Alabama. She has directed nationally, from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. She resides in Mobile with her husband Macon and her daughter Ellie. She is very pleased to be here as our K-3 Principal, Summer Day Camp Director, and Child Development Center Director.
