Ready For The New Year

It has happened again. (No, not another big truck getting stuck in the tunnel this time.) It has happened as it predictably does once a year. Some will say that it has happened incredibly fast while others can’t believe how slowly it happened. Whatever your thoughts about the timing, it has happened again. What has happened? We have flipped the calendar page to a brand-new year.

A new year brings a clean slate. It brings a chance to get started right for the 12-month sprint that is ahead of us. A new year brings new benchmarks attained and new challenges created. A new year is here—2026!  Here is something that I want you to find comfort in as the new year has launched: God is ready for the new!

In Revelation 21:5 Jesus declares: “Behold, I am making all things new!” This is such a treasured prophetic promise and the desire of all Christ-followers. It is a promise made after the Great White Throne judgment on sin. Something amazing happens after that judgment. The new has come! What has been so long waited for and so deeply desired becomes reality. All things are made new, and the changes are truly unlike anything we have ever experienced. And because God is making all things new, we can have this absolute confidence: God is ready for the new!

God is always ready. He is ready when years pass fast and when time seems to crawl over the course of a year. He is ready when things are moving along smoothly and when there is chaos and uncertainty. God is always ready to move us into the new, and in His perfect timing, He always does just that. He has given us a new year. Let’s celebrate that He continues to do new things in us and in our church. I look forward to worshipping our God with you in 2026. I’ll see you at GSBC!

Blessings!
